Inside Life Sciences

DENS: Big Business, Local Impact

We care deeply for our employees and clients, and we are invested in the communities where we live and work – from Boston to San Jose and everywhere in between.

Flagship Facility Services, our parent company, serves 1,800+ client locations across the country, but along with DENS, we’re known for making an impact at the local level. By prioritizing charitable work and community service at every site, we touch the lives of those around us and help our communities to grow and thrive.

Here is a glimpse into what we’ve been up to on the east and west coast:

Life Science Cares Logo

Life Science Cares

Life Science Cares (LSC) is an organization that seeks to leverage the power of the Life Sciences industry in the fight against poverty. LSC makes grants to community non-profits that are implementing research-driven solutions in the areas of survival, education, and economic sustainability. DENS Facility Services – our partner in the Life Sciences sector – regularly collaborates with LSC on fundraising initiatives, community events, and philanthropic efforts. And you can always count on seeing the DENS team at LSC mixers!

Joshua Philbrook
Joshua Philbrook

DENS President, Joshua Philbrook, sits on the board of advisors for the Boston chapter of LSC and is a leader of change himself. He has a passion for helping people discover non-traditional career pathways via facility services in the Life Sciences and healthcare industries. Throughout his career, Josh has managed various technicians in multiple trades and advocated for trade opportunities within the Life Sciences and other lifesaving fields.

Horizons Homeless Children Logo

Horizons for Homeless Children

Most recently, DENS helped organize a diaper drive in support of Horizons for Homeless Children – an organization that helps young children mitigate the trauma and stress associated with homelessness. Inspired by Jessica Fahey, Vice President of Lab Services, who delivered her second baby in May, DENS worked with LSC to collect diapers, baby wipes, and other needed items. An online donation link made it possible for even field-based employees to participate.

A La Carte

A La Carte

In 2019, Flagship Culinary Services began working with A La Carte – a Silicon Valley Food Recovery initiative to donate unused food to schools, churches, and community centers in the Bay Area.

In the first year of the partnership, Flagship successfully donated 152,858 meals and diverted more than 182,700 pounds of food from landfills!

Additionally, the culinary team in Boston partnered with Lovin’ Spoonfuls – an agency that distributes fresh food to those facing food insecurity throughout New England. In just one month, the team donated over 640 meals.

If you have a passion for service, consider joining one of the Flagship teams!
